Castellar De La Frontera

If you are seeking peace and tranquillity, 'old-world' values and a close family unit society, then Castellar de la Frontera is definitely for you Surrounded by agriculture, mainly cork, orange and lemon groves makes for amazing country walking area and newly designated cycle tracks on main roads made this a safe cycling area too, even on the main roads of Castellar de la Frontera. If golf is your 'thing', then you are spoilt for choice with at least five major courses within ten minutes, including famous Sotogrande, which also has the nearest beach. Sotogrande is one of Spain's top golf courses.
Gibraltar is 25 minutes, Marbella, Estepona, some 35 minutes. Malaga 40 mins. West past Algeciras (20 minutes) you can explore the Costa del Luz with its white-sand beaches and coves lashed by the Atlantic, with small fishing villages dotted along the coast towards Cadiz offering fresh fish specialties. From Castellar de la Frontera, Ronda can be reached by train from a nearby station and makes a great day out, stopping at all the little village stations en-route. You really can still leave your door open in Castellar de la Frontera!
Castellar, in brief, a peaceful and beautiful area of Spain in which to live but with plenty going on in the village, a lot of which is organised free by the Town Hall. Schools of excellent standard, an efficient Health Clinic, a great swimming pool open for three months of the year, a fitness club, various outings - all the shops, bar and restaurants you could need plus a weekly rastro market and a daily covered market with many local produce being sold.
Good access roads to the village, although a rather 'rustic' bus service makes a car essential!
